Are Startups Finally Finding Their Way To San Jose?

Possible good news for the city of San Jose’s real estate lull.

Good news for those landlords in downtown San Jose and surrounding submarkets who have sat back with heavy hearts watching the rest of Silicon Valley and San Francisco take advantage of the technology boom. If the information in the attached article is correct we could very well start seeing vacancy drop fairly quickly in San Jose!

FACEBOOK NEWS

Working the system or being a prudent tenant? Facebook is reportedly eyeing expansion space in Newark (i.e. the other side of the bay). The price differential between Menlo Park and Newark is CRAZY – and would be a very prudent move as it pertains to keeping occupancy costs down. But we are talking about Facebook here. Are they really going to expand in Newark or, as I suspect, are they just testing the resolve of Menlo Park’s planning department (whom they are looking for expansion approvals from) who, by reputation, can be both difficult and slow to deal with? Slow and difficult – two qualities that go hand in hand with the world of social media (extreme sarcasm).
